Budget M009S Tablet PC Hands-On Review
I recently put together a video of the NATPC M009S tablet PC. It’s the same Android 2.2 slate as the Tabtech M009S that we covered on What Tablet PC a few months ago, but the name has changed since we posted that. I’ve got some good feedback that it’s been useful, so now have the video here with some follow-up information.
NATPC M009S Review
As mentioned previously this is the same tablet as the Tabtech M009S, so I won’t cover the same ground, head over to our earlier review of this tablet PC if you want the full low down here.
In a nutshell, it’s a cheap 7-inch Android tablet PC that retails for around £70-£80. It copes with the basic tablet PC tasks well but as soon as you put a bit of pressure on the processor, it starts to struggle - don’t expect HD video playback or Flash video to work in the browser.
However, it does a good enough job given the price and this has made it a very strong seller on Amazon with good user feedback.
The screen isn’t as responsive, bright or sharp as other Android 2.2 tablets such as the Advent Vega, Archos 101 or original 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab. But, for those cheap budget tablet PCs you’d be looking at the £200 mark - they’re substantially more expensive.
If you want to find out more, watch the video below and check out the original Tabtech M009S review.
How Do I Buy A NATPC M009S?
To find out the full specification and user reviews check out the M009S on Amazon.

[..YouTube..] @JWBails thanks for the question. Sorry, I’m not sure what you’d call it – some form of USB connector/adapter?
[..YouTube..] This Tablet is ugly.
[..YouTube..] is that a good tablet? i want to but it but i dont know it is shitty P: i want to know if it is a good thing to buy you know.what do you say?PD:sorry for my bad english im from argentina
[..YouTube..] @TheVladicek thanks for the comment. It’s not as stylish as more premium tablets but the price point is the attractive bit. You can’t expect high quality at that kind of level.
[..YouTube..] @flautaroo thanks for the question. It’s a good quality tablet given the low price point. It’s nowhere near as powerful as a tablet along the lines of an iPad, Kindle Fire or other tablets in that league. But, those are at least double or more in price. Overall it’s a decent cheap starter tablet but if you want a much better screen/performance you’ll need to spend more. Hope this helps.
[..YouTube..] Thanks for video.
[..YouTube..] does oovoo work
[..YouTube..] @johnjjify thanks for the question. Sorry I don’t have this tablet anymore so can’t check but given I couldn’t get video chat on Skype to work, I doubt Oovoo would work on this one. There is a new M009S out though that has a more powerful processor and I believe that version may well deal with video chat.
[..YouTube..] @Tomas28244 no worries and thanks for the feedback.
[..YouTube..] Any lag? 2GB doesn’t seem to be enough to store applications.
[..YouTube..] @waterpower105 thanks for your question. Yes, it’s not the snappiest of tablets as it has a relatively weak processor to get to this low price point. As you say, 2GB internal memory is limited too so you won’t be able to get a huge number of apps on here at any one time. If you’re looking for a cheap tablet that does a good job then this is an option but if you want something comparable to a premium tablet then it’s going to cost more.
[..YouTube..] Does it come in white?
[..YouTube..] @nicoloreto thanks for the question. I’ve only seen it on Amazon in black. Although there is a M010S available in white there currently. I haven’t tried the M010S but the specs look broadly similar.
[..YouTube..] would his be a good tablet for work and school?
[..YouTube..] Perfect for a 6year old to stop him playing bloody angry birds on my SGS2!!
[..YouTube..] With it only being 7 inch is it harder to use and is the scree that hard to press?
[..YouTube..] @LoopyLoollyPop thanks for the question. If you’re navigating website then these are renedered to the size of the screen, this means that 7-inch tablets have smaller text than a 10-inch tablet and links are therefore smaller and a bit more fiddly to hit. The screen is fine but just not as responsive as you’d get on something like an iPad. It just means from time-to-time you need to press twice to ensure your tap is registered. Hope this helps.
[..YouTube..] @jocoman22 thanks for the question. It’s fine for web surfing and apps but you wouldn’t want to create content on it – e.g. wordprocessing. The screen would be too difficult to do a lot of typing on.
[..YouTube..] @w1zardssleeve thanks for the comment. Agree, it’s a good starter tablet.
[..YouTube..] @tabletpcuk thankyou and one last question there is also apperently a more responsive tablet which is the same make as this one but is a lot easier to use. if u have ever heard of this how much do hey cost and is it worth it?
[..YouTube..] @LoopyLoollyPop no worries. There us a “NATPC M009S Capacitive” on Amazon that has a more responsive screen (“capacitive” is a screen type that are much more reactive than resistive screens), a more powerful processor and runs Android 2.3, which is a more recent version of Android. I can see that they’re currently sold out but there is also a Tabtronics – A10 M009SC which looks like a similar spec. I haven’t tried either but the specs look good for roughly £100. Hope this helps.
[..YouTube..] thankyou very much you know so much about technology! its just as my brother is thinking of buying one but were not sure wether to go with the cheaper less responsive one or the capcitive screen. Although the only place we can seem to find the capacitive screen is on amazon, and as you have said it is sold out which is extremely iritating!
[..YouTube..] can you review the 2.3 gingerbread version? it come with a A10 1.2ghz cpu and 400mhz mali dedicared gpu, its getting alot of good reviews by costumers but i would like to see a professional review made by you. thanks in advance.
[..YouTube..] @LoopyLoollyPop no worries and hope you’ve managed to find it – looks like there’s one available on Amazon right now.
[..YouTube..] @TheReaperWarrior thanks for your comment. I’m hoping to get hold of some of the updated models soon so will post a review as soon as I have one.
[..YouTube..] looks gud!
[..YouTube..] i dunnow what to do i want it but thers another one thats cleek and cool>>>>>
[..YouTube..] Hi tabletpcuk, thanks for the review, can you tell us what formats of video files does this tablet read?
[..YouTube..] thanks mate been thinking about buying one for a while now and you have made me more happy with them:)
[..YouTube..] @goughkid no worries and thanks for leaving the comment.
[..YouTube..] no worries and thanks for leaving the comment.
[..YouTube..] @crazywoodlouse thanks for the question. I haven’t got my version anymore but I checked with the distributors on Amazon and they’ve said MP4 and AVI video files. It will also play mp3 music files too. Hope this helps.

[..YouTube..] If you want this for free just check my channel out!
[..YouTube..] This also has more main screen?
[..YouTube..] Hey, does the BBC iplayer work, as many people have given me conflicting reviews
[..YouTube..] @Engineer7701 thanks for the question. Sorry, I’m not sure what you’re asking, please can you give some details. Thanks

[..YouTube..] @LooseTeensdotnet thanks for the question. I’ve not got my M009S anymore but when I had it, I tried the iPlayer directly in the browser and it failed to load properly and then crashed out of the browser. It’s a relatively weak processor so not really up to buffering Flash video. This may have improved with recent firmware updates but I wouldn’t expect this to be robust given the low spec hardware. Hope this helps.

[..YouTube..] @tabletpcuk Sorry for the bad wording. So: where the widgets we put (main screen), have a more this screen? I can scroll there pages?

[..YouTube..] Can you put your music from itunes on it?
[..YouTube..] i had this tablet . 10 being the best and 1 being the worst . i give it 2
[..YouTube..] @BeatyCole24 thanks for the question. As far as I know you can’t download iTunes music directly onto an Android tablet. However, there are apps such as DoubleTwist which you can get for Android that allow you to sync an iTunes library. I haven’t tried this app on this tablet though. Internal storage is limited so you’d need to get a MicroSD card anyway to store your music.

[..YouTube..] @seawinds12 thanks for the comment and sorry to hear it didn’t work out for you. This tablet is at the very low end of the tablet range so if you are looking for something comparable to an iPad or Asus Transformer Prime experience then I totally agree with you that they are in a different league, but equally at a much higher price too. What did you end up getting in the end?

[..YouTube..] I’m sorry but Would this be as powerful as an iPod 4th gen? weird comparison but It helps me get a better idea.
[..YouTube..] all games works on this tablet???
[..YouTube..] @Andriuska456 thanks for the question. Any games that work on a Smartphone and were designed for Android 2.2 will work on this so there’s a good range. More recent games may require more powerful processors and so it will depend on the game. I’d suggest if you really want a tablet for gaming then there are better tablets than this with more responsive screens. They may be a bit more expensive though. Hope this helps.

[..YouTube..] @TheCaciqueLempira thanks for the comment. This device is quite different to the iPod Touch 4th gen as it’s screen size is about double at 7-inches compared to 3.5-inches (measured diagonally). The processor on that device is a stronger processor than the one on this tablet. The screen will also be more responsive, battery longer and there’s more storage space included on the iPod Touch. The M009S is more than half the price though. Hope this gives you a very quick comparison.

[..YouTube..] @tabletpcuk Yes it does, thank you.
[..YouTube..] Yes it does, thank you.
[..YouTube..] Heyy I was just wondering would it connect to a bt home hub?
[..YouTube..] I’m already having a problem with this. Every time I go to Google, YouTube, or any other apps which require a search engine, I get half way through typing a word and then it changes it to Chinese! There are Chinese buttons on the keyboard and I want to know how to get rid of them and completely stop there being any Chinese on this tablet. I’ve changed the language to English (United Kingdom) but still no luck. I believe it’s called the Guobi Input Method. How do I remove/disable it? Thank you!
[..YouTube..] @Banananana24 thanks for the question. Sorry I don’t know the BT home hub well. If you email the distributor on Amazon they should be able to let you know before you buy.

[..YouTube..] @CHARLIESLYSTER thanks for the question. Sorry I don’t have my M009S anymore and it sounds like there’s something going on with yours as I didn’t have the same problem. If you contact the distributor via the Amazon interface I’m sure they’ll tell you what you need to do.

[..YouTube..] Whats the battery life like?
[..YouTube..] Thanks for the question. Battery life isn’t great, it lasted for 2-3 hours on a full charge if you’re watching a video so just about enough time for a film. However, you can use the tablet whilst it’s charging, and watching video is pretty battery intensive so you’ll get longer if you’re using it for other things.
[..YouTube..] Hey are you allowed to put music from iTunes And are you allowed to plug it to a Mac computer
[..YouTube..] Hi what do you think of the sticker on top of the screen if you take it off it looks a bit weird like the screen is bendy
[..YouTube..] One more question does it have bluetooth
[..YouTube..] Android doesn’t have an iTunes app directly but you can get apps like the doubleTwist Player that sync iTunes music/playlists to an Android tablet or phone. That app is suitable for Mac or PC. I haven’t tried this tablet on a Mac but there’s no reason why it wouldn’t work with a Mac as other Android tablets/phones usually would. Probably best to double check with whoever you buy from before purchasing.
[..YouTube..] Sorry I’m not sure what you mean by the sticker on the top, do you mean the clear plastic protector that it ships with? The screen is resistive and the build isn’t as robust as other tablets so there is some give if you press hard on the screen. However that’s the trade-off with a low price tablet. Hope this helps.
[..YouTube..] Sorry I don’t have my M009S anymore so from what I can remember, I don’t think there was Bluetooth. If anyone is reading this who has an M009S then please leave a comment to confirm. If this is an important feature for you then it’s worth dropping the distributor a message to ask them in advance of purchasing. You can do this on Amazon via the product page.
[..YouTube..] Does this have a Netflix app? Or can you use Netflix through the browser?
[..YouTube..] your right. i have one and it dosent have bluetooth. but you can get a usb bluetooth adapter and plug it in to the tablet, then download a third party bluetooth program from android market.
[..YouTube..] Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.
[..YouTube..] I don’t have Netflix so didn’t try it on this tablet when I had it. The only thing is that the tablet struggled with more intensive work as the processor is fairly low powered so video worked in the YouTube app but struggled to play Flash video in the browser. There’s also a fair amount of glare off the resistive screen. Hope this helps.
[..YouTube..] it is now 4.0 os
[..YouTube..] somebody stole your video and put spanish music over it.. cheeky bastards lol
[..YouTube..] just 3 questions??
can you get on the internet with it like facebook, twitter, goggle etc??? and can you also upload stuff from your laptop onto it?? and can you take pictures on it??
[..YouTube..] Can you plug in a 3G Dongle in this and would it work?
[..YouTube..] Thanks for the questions, yes you can access the internet on it so get on the websites you mention. Yes you can swap files from your laptop on to it but the internal storage is limited so you’d probably need a MicroSD card to extend this. Also you can take pictures on it but the camera is pretty basic so not comparable to a good smartphone camera or digital camera. Hope this helps.
[..YouTube..] Sorry I don’t have my M009S anymore so I can’t test this. It comes with an attachment that provides a SIM card input I think so there seems to be the function there. Probably best to contact the distributor if you’re thinking about buying one and ask them.
[..YouTube..] Thanks for flagging that up, where is that one appearing?
[..YouTube..] Thanks for the update. If anyone has got it running Android 4.0 then please can you comment on how well it performs? I’d have thought this tablet would struggle to cope with that advanced operating system?
[..YouTube..] it was a while back now but it was exact copy lol
[..YouTube..] Thanks for the heads-up.
[..YouTube..] can u go on habbo on it?
[..YouTube..] when buying this thing does it come with a charger or do you need to buy this seperatly
[..YouTube..] can you phone of it
[..YouTube..] I just got the same tablet yesterday and I am quite disapointed… it did not have angry birds or even have it in the marketplace, did not have weather and some other apps that it states come loaded on. voice search does not work… all in all I hate it
