NATPC M009S UK Tablet PC Review 7-Inch Android 2.2 Slate

Budget M009S Tablet PC Hands-On Review

I recently put together a video of the NATPC M009S tablet PC. It’s the same Android 2.2 slate as the Tabtech M009S that we covered on What Tablet PC a few months ago, but the name has changed since we posted that. I’ve got some good feedback that it’s been useful, so now have the video here with some follow-up information.

NATPC M009S Review

Tabtech M009S Android Tablet Review

As mentioned previously this is the same tablet as the Tabtech M009S, so I won’t cover the same ground, head over to our earlier review of this tablet PC if you want the full low down here.

In a nutshell, it’s a cheap 7-inch Android tablet PC that retails for around £70-£80. It copes with the basic tablet PC tasks well but as soon as you put a bit of pressure on the processor, it starts to struggle - don’t expect HD video playback or Flash video to work in the browser.

However, it does a good enough job given the price and this has made it a very strong seller on Amazon with good user feedback.

The screen isn’t as responsive, bright or sharp as other Android 2.2 tablets such as the Advent Vega, Archos 101 or original 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab. But, for those cheap budget tablet PCs you’d be looking at the £200 mark - they’re substantially more expensive.

If you want to find out more, watch the video below and check out the original Tabtech M009S review.

  1. [..YouTube..] @JWBails thanks for the question. Sorry, I’m not sure what you’d call it – some form of USB connector/adapter?

  2. [..YouTube..] This Tablet is ugly.

  3. flautaroo says:

[..YouTube..] is that a good tablet? i want to but it but i dont know it is shitty P: i want to know if it is a good thing to buy you know.what do you say?PD:sorry for my bad english im from argentina :D

  4. [..YouTube..] @TheVladicek thanks for the comment. It’s not as stylish as more premium tablets but the price point is the attractive bit. You can’t expect high quality at that kind of level.

  5. [..YouTube..] @flautaroo thanks for the question. It’s a good quality tablet given the low price point. It’s nowhere near as powerful as a tablet along the lines of an iPad, Kindle Fire or other tablets in that league. But, those are at least double or more in price. Overall it’s a decent cheap starter tablet but if you want a much better screen/performance you’ll need to spend more. Hope this helps.

  6. [..YouTube..] Thanks for video.

  7. johnjjify says:

    [..YouTube..] does oovoo work

  8. [..YouTube..] @johnjjify thanks for the question. Sorry I don’t have this tablet anymore so can’t check but given I couldn’t get video chat on Skype to work, I doubt Oovoo would work on this one. There is a new M009S out though that has a more powerful processor and I believe that version may well deal with video chat.

  9. [..YouTube..] @Tomas28244 no worries and thanks for the feedback.

  10. [..YouTube..] Any lag? 2GB doesn’t seem to be enough to store applications.

  11. [..YouTube..] @waterpower105 thanks for your question. Yes, it’s not the snappiest of tablets as it has a relatively weak processor to get to this low price point. As you say, 2GB internal memory is limited too so you won’t be able to get a huge number of apps on here at any one time. If you’re looking for a cheap tablet that does a good job then this is an option but if you want something comparable to a premium tablet then it’s going to cost more.

  12. [..YouTube..] Does it come in white?

  13. [..YouTube..] @nicoloreto thanks for the question. I’ve only seen it on Amazon in black. Although there is a M010S available in white there currently. I haven’t tried the M010S but the specs look broadly similar.

  14. jocoman22 says:

[..YouTube..] would his be a good tablet for work and school?

  15. [..YouTube..] Perfect for a 6year old to stop him playing bloody angry birds on my SGS2!!

  16. [..YouTube..] With it only being 7 inch is it harder to use and is the scree that hard to press?

  17. [..YouTube..] @LoopyLoollyPop thanks for the question. If you’re navigating website then these are renedered to the size of the screen, this means that 7-inch tablets have smaller text than a 10-inch tablet and links are therefore smaller and a bit more fiddly to hit. The screen is fine but just not as responsive as you’d get on something like an iPad. It just means from time-to-time you need to press twice to ensure your tap is registered. Hope this helps.

  18. [..YouTube..] @jocoman22 thanks for the question. It’s fine for web surfing and apps but you wouldn’t want to create content on it – e.g. wordprocessing. The screen would be too difficult to do a lot of typing on.

  19. [..YouTube..] @w1zardssleeve thanks for the comment. Agree, it’s a good starter tablet.

  20. [..YouTube..] @tabletpcuk thankyou and one last question there is also apperently a more responsive tablet which is the same make as this one but is a lot easier to use. if u have ever heard of this how much do hey cost and is it worth it?

  21. [..YouTube..] @LoopyLoollyPop no worries. There us a “NATPC M009S Capacitive” on Amazon that has a more responsive screen (“capacitive” is a screen type that are much more reactive than resistive screens), a more powerful processor and runs Android 2.3, which is a more recent version of Android. I can see that they’re currently sold out but there is also a Tabtronics – A10 M009SC which looks like a similar spec. I haven’t tried either but the specs look good for roughly £100. Hope this helps.

  22. [..YouTube..] thankyou very much you know so much about technology! its just as my brother is thinking of buying one but were not sure wether to go with the cheaper less responsive one or the capcitive screen. Although the only place we can seem to find the capacitive screen is on amazon, and as you have said it is sold out which is extremely iritating!

  23. [..YouTube..] can you review the 2.3 gingerbread version? it come with a A10 1.2ghz cpu and 400mhz mali dedicared gpu, its getting alot of good reviews by costumers but i would like to see a professional review made by you. thanks in advance.

  24. [..YouTube..] @LoopyLoollyPop no worries and hope you’ve managed to find it – looks like there’s one available on Amazon right now.

  25. [..YouTube..] @TheReaperWarrior thanks for your comment. I’m hoping to get hold of some of the updated models soon so will post a review as soon as I have one.

  26. [..YouTube..] looks gud!

  27. [..YouTube..] i dunnow what to do i want it but thers another one thats cleek and cool>>>>>

  28. [..YouTube..] Hi tabletpcuk, thanks for the review, can you tell us what formats of video files does this tablet read?

  29. goughkid says:

[..YouTube..] thanks mate been thinking about buying one for a while now and you have made me more happy with them:)

  30. [..YouTube..] @goughkid no worries and thanks for leaving the comment.
